This website is run by Don Dulmage.

Don is the O/Op of Dolmetsch Engine Development and has been involved in many interesting engine projects. Some of them are here on this site. Some may be in the future. Don believes there is a big difference between Hi tech and Hi $. His entire career in engines has been spent figuring out how things work and why. If the part wasn't available or out of reasonable price range he simply made it in his home machine shop. Don has been certified as a ASE Master Automotive Machinist as well as his technician and mechanics certifications (Canada and USA.)

Don began his career very early.

Here he is a 4 years old leaning over the fender of his fathers car helping Dad fix the old Ford. Picture was developed in 1954 and Don was born May 1950 so it has to be. Dons Dad Harry sent this to him when he found it among some family photographs.

He has taught his discipline at the College level for several years of his career. His specialties were Engines Electrical and Fuel. He has a very different approach to problems and Performance. His greatest "Joy" is putting hi dollar cars on the trailers with seemingly commonly available lower cost parts. Some people mistake low buck for low tech but nothing can be farther from the truth. If you can't or wont pay for the shiny stuff you have to figure out how it all works and then make it yourself using science and math to solve some of the intricate problems. Don believes that is the real Hi tech and the other stuff is just expensive. He has had a engine in the top 5 in the points at the local track for at least the last 8 years including a 1st and some seconds and thirds. He, hisself has not actively raced for any of the last ten but his engines are still doing the job.

The Senior dragster project with its six carbed slant six Dodge engine has been a dream of his for almost 30 years and now that the pressure is off he has the time to enjoy the project. He would be the first to tell you he can't drive his way out of a wet paper bag but that doesn't stop him from enjoying the odd full throttle pass.

He also can communicate in German and to some extent a bit in French so feel free to write if that is your tonque. The practice will do the old bird good! Don is also a licensed Amatuer Radio Operator VE3LYX. Also in his other life he makes violins as a hobby.

You have now been forwarned so brace yourself and enjoy the tour

Why does Don like living in Prince Edward County Ontario Canada? The picture explains it all!
